Chris Gabrieli Joins the STC National Forum 2012 in Boston
Plans are vigorously underway for the STC National Forum this April in Boston, and we are very excited to announce that Chris Gabrieli has been confirmed as a guest presenter. Mr. Gabrieli is a leading education reformer with values deeply aligned to our mission rooted on the understanding that every child has a right to receive a quality education.
Like STC, Mr. Gabrieli is actively engaged in reforming education using effective and proven methods. He is the Chairman of two organizations making very powerful and sustainable changes to education – Massachusetts 2020 and the National Center on Time and Learning.
Massachusetts 2020 combines public policy, research and programming to expand and improve learning opportunities for children across the state by adding significantly more high quality learning time to the school day and year. This initiative received such phenomenal results that the National Center on Time and Learning was created to enhance the quality of educations received nationwide.
An extended day is not the final goal of these initiatives, it’s one of the first. More important is how this time is spent. Schools are guided to improve outcomes and broaden opportunities in core academics, enrichment opportunities, teacher planning and professional development. Like STC’s effective practices, NCTL’s “promising practices” have been identified as effective and sustainable and are actively shared with schools to implement with flexibility to best suit each school’s population.
With so many common standards between Mr. Gabrieli and STC, there is an enormous amount of potential for learning and collaboration. We are very excited to be hosting Chris Gabrieli at this year’s Forum in Boston, and we hope you will join us. We know the time will be well spent.
Registration for the Forum will open within the next week. To receive immediate notice of open registration, sign up for our newsletter. Check back for details on our website and contact forumregistration@schoolsthatcan.org with any questions.
