Discovery Charter School students in grades 5-8 took a trip to the Students 2 Science Lab. This advanced lab-science program in East Hanover, NJ promotes STEM education and gives students the opportunity to conduct experiments directed by professional scientists in a modern day science lab.
Co-founders Donald Truss and Paul Winslow oversaw the students as they partook in a variation of experiments like identifying polymers and plastics, trying out different solutions and testing the efficiency of antacids and sunscreens.
“I really liked experimenting with solutions the best because we measured substances and used instruments to get the results we needed,” said 7th grade student Joanka Lopez. “The best part was discovering the results and the scientist helping us to use our observations as clues to figure out why certain reactions happened.”
