Amani is a Rutgers University-Newark School of Public Affairs and Nonprofit Administration Alumna who has worked extensively in the nonprofit and education sectors. Amani has served as a Program Assistant at Jumpstart-Newark, where she worked tirelessly to ensure that preschoolers in the Newark and East Orange Public School systems received the support and resources they needed to enter kindergarten prepared to succeed. She has over 4 years of experience as a Peer Mentor, most recently with the nonprofit, Turning Point, where she coached and mentored incoming college students with special needs. Amani is also an active member of the Newark Environmental Committee, where she works to address environmental racism in Newark, and an Interim Board Member for the Building Blocks of New Jersey, a nonprofit that provides nutritious food and services to the underserved in Newark and Union City.
Amani is also the Founder and Crew Leader of the Fort Lee, NJ branch of the national nonprofit, Earth Guardians, where she and her team of climate change activists create initiatives and programs to help Fort Lee become a Green City. With her well-rounded skills and diverse background, Amani will bring a fresh and unique perspective to Schools That Can Newark.
