Sierra Baksh has previously served as an associate teacher at Success Academy Charter Schools. During her time there, Sierra‘s passion for education and social justice was sparked by interacting with her students, students’ families, and colleagues as well. She had the unique opportunity to remotely teach her students and build relationships with them in the process.
Sierra graduated from the Macaulay Honors Program at Baruch College where she received her Bachelors of Arts in Political Science. She had the opportunity to be a Peer Mentor at Baruch College which involved helping first-year college students acclimate to their college experience. In this role, Sierra learned from her students that many of their high schools did not adequately prepare them for college or employment opportunities beyond college. Sierra is excited to fulfill Schools That Can’s mission in New York and transform students’ lives in the process.
