Founded by the Grammy award wining Gospel artist Marvin L. Winans, this school divulges their students to an array of artistic platforms. The Detroit based school is dedicated to preparing their students for both academic and performing arts excellence. It offers beginning and advanced vocal, dance, orchestra and drama classes. The Marvin L. Winans Academy of Performing Arts receives $100,000 in free private music lessons for their K-12 students to take advantage of. It has two annual productions every year, one in the Winter and one in the Spring, and has been competing in numerous regional competitions across the country. Their middle school choir and orchestra ensembles received accolades at the Music in the Parks Competition festival in Sandusky Ohio. Orchestra A received an excellent rating and the Middle School Choir received a superior one.
