Lawrese Brown is the Executive Director of Schools That Can Newark. She has spent the past decade revolutionizing workforce development through strengthening students and professionals' understanding of the interpersonal skills required to excel at work. A strategic partner to organizations committed to cultivating top talent, Lawrese is a coach for the Obama Foundation Voyager Scholars, for education entrepreneurs in the 4.0 Fellowship, and to dozens of clients across top companies who are committed to developing strong teams and being a strong team leader. Lawrese began her work with Schools That Can Newark in 2018, by authoring the soft skills curriculum for their advanced manufacturing program. She facilitated Newark programs in 2021 and 2022 as well as supported National programming initiatives. Lawrese is originally from Newark, went to school in Newark, and was proud to serve as an Adjunct Professor at Rutgers School of Public Policy in 2018.
Lawrese has a Masters in Educational Leadership, Advocacy & Politics from New York University, Steinhardt's School of Human Development and a BA from Gettysburg College. She's currently completing a Masters in Public Policy from Rand Graduate School.
