NEW YORK
What We Do
STC New York supports students and educators across roughly 30 district, charter, and independent schools, bringing our career readiness curriculum into classrooms, piloting work-based learning opportunities for students, and collaborating with educators to meet school needs.
In 2024, a work-based learning ecosystem, created in partnership between South Bronx Community Charter High School and Schools That Can, was recognized by the U.S. Department of Education with its Career Z Challenge Award as one of only ten organizations in the country offering the most exemplary work-based learning programming.

Career Readiness Curriculum
Our e2e (education to employment) Career Readiness Curriculum is a holistic, student-centered approach to career readiness, where students dabble in career exploration, practice professional communication skills, develop resumes and cover letters, and engage with financial literacy needed for success. Our curriculum can be customized to fit a school’s needs, with a trained STC facilitator who brings STC’s curriculum directly into classrooms.

Work-Based Learning Experiences & Internships
The work-based learning components of our curriculum empower students to practice real-world skills needed for a changing world of work. Students engage in mock interviews, career chats with professionals, and explore areas of interest for internships, apprenticeships, and their postsecondary plan. We support schools in securing experiences and cultivating partnerships that lead to internships.
Design Challenge
STC's Design and Workplace Challenges brings together teams of middle or high school students to engage in design thinking challenges to solve local community problems. In 2025, Design Challenge will expand to include STC's first student-centered symposium hosted at SUNY Global Center.
