On Friday, June 26th, 2026, Executive Director of New York Greisy Genao served as commencement speaker for Bronx Theatre High School’s graduating class. Greisy has worked with the graduating class throughout all four years of their high school experience, making the opportunity to join them on graduation day extra special. As Greisy said:
“This group of intelligent, funny, motivated and insightful students represent the first graduating class of Schools That Can’s partnership with Bronx Theatre High School. From freshman to junior year, they engaged with us weekly in conversations about career exploration, networking, the world of work, financial literacy, and more. A cohort of this graduating class also lent their brilliance to being a part of our student AI focus group, where their reflections on AI informed a successful student centered symposium at the SUNY Global Center in their senior year, early 2025. Two students of that junior year AI and advisory group cohort even went on to become salutatorian and valedictorian, with their speeches reflecting four years of wise choices, school involvement, and future-ready practices.
Every step of the way, this graduating class modeled what young people care about, need support with, and want to fight for, which in turn allowed us to do work that was relevant, timely, and youth centered. They’ve inspired us as an organization, and we’re eager to see where life takes them. Congratulations Bronx Theatre class of 2026!”
STC congratulates these incredible young people on such a meaningful accomplishment, and we look forward to seeing where their paths take them in the future! Congratulations to STC’s own Greisy Genao on being part of this important milestone, and for years of work with a wonderful school partner.
