NEW YORK
STC New York supports students and educators across roughly 30 district, charter, and independent schools, bringing career career readiness curriculum into classrooms, piloting work-based learning opportunities for students, and collaborating with educators to meet school needs.
In addition to e2e Career Readiness Curriculum, STC NYC offers special student opportunities including the Students That Can Opportunities e-Blast, the Students That Can Connect Symposium, and middle school career readiness work.
In 2024, a work-based learning ecosystem, created in partnership between South Bronx Community Charter High School and Schools That Can, was recognized by the U.S. Department of Education with its Career Z Challenge Award as one of only ten organizations in the country offering the most exemplary work-based learning programming.
STC New York Programs
Career Readiness Curriculum
Weekly, school-embedded career readiness lessons for grades 8–12 covering career exploration, financial literacy, resume and interview skills, workplace professionalism, and the changing world of work. Students build portfolios, practice networking, and develop the communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills employers need most.
Students That Connect Symposium
Launched in 2025, the Students That Connect Symposium is a day-long event where New York City high school students engage in hands-on challenges, hear from industry panels, participate in networking activities, and showcase their skills to employers, educators, and community leaders. In 2025, the STC Symposium focused in Exploring AI. In 2026, the STC Symposium theme is Future-Proof Me! focused on building durable skills.
Design Challenge
Schools That Can New York has piloted career readiness work at the middle school level, encouraging students to explore interests, prepare for high school, and get to ready to take their next steps. More information coming soon.
