No parent should have to send their child to a failing school. Waiting for Superman highlights that devastating reality for many families. The movie also gives insight to the hopelessness that a comes when schools don’t serve their students or communities well.
When a child is trapped in a well, people gather together quickly to get them out. Poor performing schools trap students into a future with little hope and minimal economic opportunity. Whether you support charter schools, private schools, vouchers or none of these options, the clock is ticking. As a country, we need to act now to get students into high performing schools with the support to move ahead successfully. It is the only decent thing to do.
