Providence St. Mel has a flourishing model school in Cambodia. Back in 2008, two of the school’s board members Karen Pritzker and her husband Daniel Pritzker visited the country. They decided to instill their school’s educational model of high expectations, rigorous curriculum and accountability once they were aware of the educational needs in Cambodia. The Jay Pritzker Academy was born to ensure the young pupils there will have the opportunity to attend some of the top schools across the world. More than 400 students enter this school every day where they have received three hearty meals a day, study materials and uniforms. The Head of School Steve McCambridge calls the school a remarkable experience and also states that it allows students “to move beyond the physical and intellectual boundaries of their villages and to see themselves as intelligent, competent and confident citizens of a larger world.” It’s great to see the Providence St. Mel method spreading out to other regions across the Globe.
