Ashaki comes to STC with over 30 years of experience in the K-12 education and nonprofit space. In her various professional roles, Ashaki has stayed committed to helping schools reimagine education and prepare students for post-secondary life and career success by bringing innovative and real world learning experiences to students. Ashaki has worked in district, charter, and independent schools in Maryland, DC, and New Jersey. Her professional roles have spanned teaching and serving as a literacy coach, to designing and managing school career and technical education programming, to administering federal and local grant programs for the DC Office of the State Superintendent of Education, to overseeing school performance, development, and external affairs as chief of staff for a large charter management organization. Prior to joining STC in 2018, Ashaki served as Executive Director of Lady Liberty Academy Charter School and provided literacy consulting services to teachers within Newark Public Schools. Ashaki’s incredible knowledge and experience in education, program management, professional development, and evaluation coupled with her enthusiasm for career exploration and career skills attainment by students emanate throughout all of her work with STC.
